We are an English and Finnish Speaking (Bilingual), Bible-believing, Spirit-empowered, International Church for all Nations. You are most welcome to NewHope church whether you are a Finn or a foreigner staying in Finland permanently, for work, study or just passing by. OUR BELIEF
The Bible
We believe that the Scripture, Both Old and New Testaments are the inspired Word of God. In them we discover God’s plan for humanity, culminating in the wonders of the cross, resurrection and the birth of the Church. The Bible serves as an owner’s manual – it is the authority for Christian faith and lifestyle.2 Timothy 3:15-17; I Thessalonians 2:13; 2 Peter 1:21
Jesus Christ
We believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, the Savior of men, conceived of the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, very God and very man. Matthew 1:23; Luke 1:31,35; Philippians 2:9-11; Hebrews 1:3.
The Baptism in the Holy Spirit
We believe that followers of Christ Jesus are entitled to and should ardently expect and earnestly seek the promise of the Father, the baptism in the Holy Spirit and fire, according to the command of our Lord Jesus Christ. This was the normal experience of all in the early Christian Church. With it comes the endowment of power for life and service, the bestowment of the gifts and their uses in the work of the ministry. Luke 24:49; Acts 1:4; Acts 1:8; 1 Corinthians 12:1-31.
Salvation
We believe that salvation is a gift from God to humanity. We can never make up for our sin by self-improvement or good works. Only by trusting in Jesus Christ as God’s offer of Forgiveness can we be saved from sin’s penalty. Eternal life begins the moment one receives Jesus Christ into his life by faith. (Romans 6:23; Ephesians 2:8-9; John 14:6; Titus 3:5, Galatians 3:26, Romans 5:1)
Divine healing
We believe that divine healing is an integral part of the gospel. Deliverance from sickness is provided for in the atonement, and is the privilege of all believers (Isaiah 53:4-5; Matthew 8:16-17; James 5:14-16).
Water Baptism
We believe that the ordinance of baptism is commanded by the Scriptures. All who repent and believe on Christ as Savior and Lord are to be baptized. Thus they declare to the world that they have died with Christ and that they also have been raised with Him to walk in newness of life ( Matthew 28:19; Mark 16:16; Acts 10:47,48; Romans 6:4)
Holy Communion
We believe that the Lord’s Supper, consisting of the elements –bread and the fruit of the vine(Mark 14:22-25) is the symbol expressing our sharing the divine nature of our Lord Jesus Christ (2 Peter 1:4), a memorial of his suffering and death (1 Corinthians 11:26), and a prophecy of His second coming (1 Corinthians 11:26 ), and is enjoined on all believers “till He comes!”
Leadership
Pastor Chima & Heidi Igwe are the serving pastors of NewHope Church Espoo. Chima has degrees in Business Administration and in Theology. Prior to establishing NewHope Church Espoo in 2012, they served as missionaries/pastors in Cambodia, South-East Asia.
